Cycling For a Reason
Cycling For a Reason
Cycling For a Reason is a challenge designed to promote and raise funds for 3 associations/foundations (IRCAD (France), Children’s Cancer Foundation (Singapore) and WaterAid (Australia) ).
My plan is to complete a solo bicycle tour across the Australian continent from Darwin to Melbourne covering a distance of almost 4000 km in less than 28 days. Starting from 21st of November 2009
My goal is to promote sports and to create awareness about the fight against cancer, about poverty and environment protection.
I believe everyone can give something of their own for the welfare of others. However small my contribution might be, it seems crucial for me to help causes that so many volunteers are fighting for all around the world.
My challenge is about cycling as I want to emphasize the role that each one of us has to play to protect our planet. As bicycle is the green mode of transportation I believe it is the best means to carry my message.
Whenever I can during my challenge, I will share my thoughts and feelings through my live blog attached to this website. After each stage I will put for you a hyperlink to see my day trip on google map and an analysis of my ride (Heart rate, Speed, Distance). You will have the possibility also to review my entirely ride. At last, through my video channel I will share with you some best moments of my daily ride.
For support their fights please feel free to give some donation to IRCAD, Children Cancer Foundation’s and WaterAid.
A new challenge to raise money to save some lives...
IRCAD (Research Institute against Digestive Cancer) has been founded in 1994 on the premises of the University Hospital in Strasbourg. It pools cancer fighting fundamental research laboratories, a research and development department in computer sciences and robotics and a training centre for minimally invasive surgery (EITS - European Institute of TeleSurgery).
WaterAid is an international charity. Our mission is to overcome poverty by enabling the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. These basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.
The Children's Cancer Foundation (CCF) is well-positioned to be a holistic provider to care for cancer afflicted children and their families. CCF supports the training and research of childhood cancer and complements our hospitals' efforts in this area to enhance survival of this illness. As part of this initiative, we have gone a step further beyond our shores, seeking to enable regional doctors to increase the rate of cure in developing countries.
